Technology Tournament 2019

On Thursday, 28th February The Rotary Club of Leicester held our annual schools Technology Tournament for its fifth consecutive year. Once again we were hosted by Leicester Grammar School in their main hall.

Twelve schools from in and around Leicester were represented by a total of 148 students working in teams of four to design, build & test a working model to solve a lifting challenge. It was a hugely successful day enjoyed by students, teachers and Rotarians alike.

The organisation and competition judging was carried out largely by Leicester Rotarians, but we were supported by Rotarians from Oadby Launde, Oadby, Leicester Novus and Stamford as well as the staff of Leicester Grammar School in a tremendous collaborative effort. It is a significant logistical exercise to bring such a one day event together and thanks must go to all who helped in its success.

During the course of the day we were visited by the RIBI President, Debbie Hodge, and her husband as well as a team from Stamford RC who will be starting their own Technology Tournament next year, under the mentorship of Rotarians from the Leicester team.
