Immediate Past President Chris Saul accepted a Rotary Citation (Silver) on behalf of the Rotary Club of Leicester for the 2019-20 year.
Rotary Citations are awarded by Rotary International to selected Rotary Clubs for achieving goals that strengthen Rotary and the club.
Goals include increasing club membership, developing sustainable service projects, giving to The Rotary Foundation, and building awareness of Rotary in our community.
The Rotary Club of Leicester is delighted to have won this Award in what was a very challenging year for the Club with the Coronavirus situation unfortunately impacting some of the projects we had planned for 2019-20 year.
Saul led the Club through the challenging times, including our weekly face-to-face meeting being cancelled, and was our first President to host a virtual meeting for our Club.
On receiving the award Saul said “Thanks must go to each member of the Club for their contribution to the projects and initiatives that the Club undertook over the year. The support we gave to World Polio Day, working with local charities such as the RDA and more recently during the Covid crisis with Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland and Charity Link has shown our commitment to and involvement with the local community.”
