Crocus Sunday

This event on Sunday 27th February 2017, in Aid of the Stop polio campaign, took place at the Botanic Gardens in Oadby. On a cold and windy day, Rotarian volunteers  stood for an hour at a time, with collection buckets, raising funds for the End Polio Now campaign. Entry to the event was free, but  visitors  contributed generously and donated £522 on the day. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will contribute double everything we raised, so the event has provided £1,566 towards the campaign. There have been just 35 cases of polio diagnosed in 2016, compared to 380,000 cases in 1985 when the eradication programme began. Fortunately the crocus  were in full bloom and made a superb display.
