April is Maternal and Child Health Month

To maximise the impact of our Rotary\’s work both locally and globally, Rotary International has selected six key causes to focus its efforts on.

Maternal and child health is one of six causes chosen by Rotary International because:

Every day 810 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth*,

94% of all maternal deaths occur in low and lower middle-income countries*, and

14,000 children under 5 die every day because of malnutrition, inadequate health care, and poor sanitation**.

The Rotary Club of Leicester support\’s Rotary International goal to work to reduce these numbers and help save the lives of thousands of mothers and children.

This video shows how Rotary works to achieve this aim by delivering education, immunisations, birth kits, mobile health clinics and new mother training to help prevent and protect themselves and their children from disease.
