On Tuesday 25th February we ran our 6th Technology Tournament and once again we were generously hosted by Leicester Grammar School. This year we had 148 children taking part in 37 teams from 13 schools in the city as well as the county and Rutland. We had 3 new schools join us, but unfortunately 2 of our previous contestants were unable to take part, so a net gain of one school.
Once again we were supported by Rotarians from other Leicester and Oadby clubs and by our sponsors – Thomas White Trust, Pick Everard and Hodges & Drake – both financially and with judges. And we were visited by Rotarians from Bradgate and Burton upon Trent who are keen to learn how to establish their own events.
Everyone had a great day and all three age group categories were won in a clean sweep by Leicester Grammar School. But it never has been about the winning; its the taking part in something that is challenging and completely absorbing that is a stimulating extension to the school curriculum.
