Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) – August 2025
Two young professionals, selected and supported by the Rotary Club of Leicester, took part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards on behalf of Rotary in the East Midlands – District 1070 at Grafham Water Centre, in Cambridgeshire.
RYLA is an adventure week, jam-packed with lots of activities, designed to develop leadership skills, confidence and take ownership of personal development.

Throughout the week, they took part in a variety of activities, including hiking, sailing, canoeing, simulated business challenges, high ropes, and climbing.

These activities tested their mental, physical and co-operative capabilities in unfamiliar environments, allowing for personal growth throughout the week.
Hubert said:
“It was a unique and rewarding experience that allowed me to develop a wide range of skills, from practical abilities like sailing to personal qualities such as working effectively under tight time pressure. A particular highlight was the night walk on the first day, where I shared plenty of laughs and built great memories with my team.
Jessie said:
“I had an incredible week with an inspiring group of young leaders, developing my leadership skills and building resilience, which will prove valuable in my career. What stood out most during the week was how I pushed myself beyond my comfort zone through the diverse range of activities.”
Overall, they are extremely grateful for the opportunity and would like to thank RYLA for the unforgettable experience, invaluable skills, and lifelong memories, and hope this support will continue for future candidates.
